| 釣果・釣況 | About 5 minutes into the fight, something began to feel terribly wrong. There was no familiar blistering runs or acrobatic tail walks from my sail other than during the initial hookup. My friend did not even know whether his was a sail or not as his fish did not surface at all! To my dismay I realized that my friend's line had actually crossed mine and to top it all off, both our lines were caught onto a fish-trap marker line. For those unfamiliar with what a fish-trap, well these are metal meshed cages that the local fishermen in Malaysia used to catch fish. Bait is left inside these fish-traps before they are lowered onto the seabed and fishes actually find their way into these cages via a small hole found in the trap. Somehow, these fishes always seem to be unable to find their way out after feeding! Well, a float attached to a rope is tied onto these cages for the fisherman to locate it at the end of the day. Luckily for us, our boatman was very experienced with such situations and he backed the boat down while my friend and I started to take up the slack as fast as we could. When we reached the float, our deckhand freed our lines from the float and we frantically untangled the two lines. Once our lines were freed, two angry Sailfish immediately began tail walking all over the ocean when they felt us pulling ! 10 minutes later, I landed my sailfish and a few quick photos were taken before reviving the exhausted Sailfish and setting it free. After catching a quick breath, I helped my friend leader his Sail and he took a photo with his fish as well. |
